Gameloft has reported significant profit and sales increases for the first half of 2010.
The French publisher reported a half-year profit of €5.3 million ($6.8m / £4.4m), up 140 per cent year-over-year, on the back of sales up 11 per cent to €66.6 million ($85.5m / £55.3m). It said that its iPhone and iPad game sales grew 82 per cent during the six month period.

Google has acquired social game developer SocialDeck for an undisclosed sum.
The Canadian-based firm was founded in 2008 and has launched several titles for iPhone, Facebook and BlackBerry including Shake And Spell, Pet Hero and Color Connect. The company’s game’s achieved more than one million mobile downloads last year.

Farmville maker Zynga has acquired Japanese social game developer Unoh for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2001, Unoh has created titles including Machitsuku!, Band Yarouyo! and Kaizoku Chronicle. The studio will lead Zynga’s Japanese mobile efforts, creating new games and localising others.

California-based publisher Glu Mobile has reported increased losses and a decline in sales for its second fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2010.
Quarterly revenues fell $3.9 million year-over-year to $16 million (£10m), while net loss increased $1.7 million to $3.2 million (£2m).

Gameloft has reported sales of €33.6 million ($44m / £28.1m) for the second quarter of 2010, up 15 per cent year-over-year.
Europe and North America both represented 34 per cent of the French publisher’s sales during the quarter, while the rest of the world accounted for the remainder.
Sales for the first half of the year now stand at €66.6 million ($87.2m / £55.7m), up 11 per cent year-over-year.
