The engine behind Rage and Doom 4 will only be available to games published by ZeniMax Media.
iD Software has revealed that iD Tech 5, the proprietary engine behind Doom 4 and Rage, will not be licenced to other developers, suggesting that the company is looking to move away from licencing its engines in future.

Splash Damage developed shooter Brink has been delayed until 2011, publisher Bethesda has confirmed.
The ambitious FPS, which aims to blend singleplayer, co-op and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, was originally scheduled to launch in spring 2010, but was previously delayed to the autumn of this year.

Bethesda Softworks has opened new sales and marketing offices in Frankfurt, Germany and Paris, France.
Frank Matzke and Julie Chalmette have joined the company to act as managing directors of the German and French operations, respectively.
Matzke previously served as vice president for Europe at Sierra Entertainment and as marketing director for central Europe at Vivendi Games.
Chalmette formerly held the position of general manager for Vivendi Games France.

Bethesda has decided not to pursue their lawsuit against Interplay, a surprise move which effectively allows work on the mooted Fallout MMO to continue.
Bethesda initial sought an injunction against Interplay in 2007 to stop them from using the Fallout license. The move was to effectively stop Interplay from working on a Fallout MMO, rumoured to be called Project V-13.

Bethesda Softworks has announced that the next chapter in the Fallout franchise, Fallout: New Vegas, will launch this autumn.
First revealed at a London event in April 2009, the RPG is currently in development at Alpha Protocol and Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II studio Obsidian.

id Software’s Rage will be published by Bethesda after parent company Zenimax Media acquired the rights to the game from EA Partners.
“The ongoing development of Rage is unaffected by this development,” Zenimax said in a statement.
Based on the id Tech 5 game engine, Rage is in development for PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3. A launch date has yet to be announced.

US District Judge Denies Bethesda’s attempt to block Interplay from selling Fallout games.
Gamasutra reports that Interplay will be able to continue selling Fallout Trilogy, a bundle of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, along with the titles on an individual basis. Interplay will also be able to continue work on its Fallout MMO.

Publisher Bethesda has confirmed that Brink’s release has been delayed until autumn 2010.
